A social pact for agriculture

What are we going to tell you about today?

The European Union is planning to reform the EU Common Agricultural Policy after 2023. In connection with this, Poland, just like every other EU country, has to develop its own Strategic Plan, defining how to direct the funding of specific objectives.

What do we expect?

We want the Plan was response for challenges facing farmers, including the effects of the worsening climate catastrophe. Climate change threatens to inflict huge losses on agriculture and make it unable to operate as it does today, so adapting farms to climate change is the most important challenge to face by the Polish Strategic Plan.

What has happened?

We have signed an act of the Living Earth Coalition, the Save the Rivers Coalition and the Agriculture for Nature Coalition. The document mentions that our future depends on the currently drafted Strategic Plan, because if we do not take care of agriculture, our food security will be threatened..

Why did we join the 55 organisations that signed the document?

Because we deeply believe that joining together in larger groups, brings the power of our pressure on politicians will become sufficient to introduce the necessary systemic changes.

What systemic changes?

Together we demand, among other things, the creation of a Social Pact for Polish agriculture, the introduction of which will help to strengthen Poland's food sovereignty through concern for the ecological sustainability of production. In addition, we call for in-depth social consultations so that all changes are introduced with the consent of farmers.
